One of the important missions of Druk Green Power Corporation is to effectively and efficiently manage hydropower plants and maximise return to the people of Bhutan, provide energy security for domestic consumption and build capacity in hydropower construction and management. In the pursuit to fulfil this mandate, one of the initiatives taken by our Management was the inception of the Centres of Excellence to contribute towards fulfilling the shortages of a team of experts who can responsibly build highly specialised skills and undertake specialised works which otherwise we are dependent on external expertise. With the existing power plants and addition of 10,000MW by 2020, it is imperative that Druk Green build human resource capacities in the specialised condition monitoring and diagnostic techniques for the hydropower assets.
The Centre of Excellence in Vibration & Thermographic Analysis (CoEVaTA) was established in the year 2010, to develop a team of experts in the highly specialised fields of vibration, infrared thermography, ultrasonic, magnetic particle inspection and remote vehicle inspection using mobile CCTV. The CoEVaTA has trained and experienced professionals, who have been certified by reputed institutions to handle the sophisticated modern diagnostic equipments and techniques and undertakes special testing and diagnostic jobs in all the hydropower plants under Druk Green and offers such professional services to industries in Bhutan and the neighbouring places in India. The Centre is also actively involved in authoring technical papers and presentations at the International forums, conducting research and imparting training for the Druk Green employees.
