Corporate Social Responsibility
DGPC, in fulfilling its vision and mission, plays a major role in supporting the communities through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. DGPC continues to improve the quality of life of the communities through long-term value creation for all stakeholders. This objective is for aligning DGPC’s CSR with Bhutan’s overarching development policy of “Gross National Happiness”.
Towards achieving this, DGPC continues to support community related religious, educational, social, and environmental activities that are in the greater interests of the Bhutanese public through donations and contributions. In addition, DGPC conducts Baza Guru Dungdrup and drupchhen at Chhukha Zangdopelri, and Mani Dungdrup at Rinchentse lhakhang annually.
The disaster management teams at the power plants cover a much wider area in terms of their services during accidents, fires and other emergencies, especially providing rescue and support along the Thimphu-Phuentsholing highway.
DGPC spent Nu. 17.65 million towards CSR in 2018. In addition, a major CSR initiative was the installation of floodlighting at Gyalpoizhing football ground in Gyalpoizhing, Mongar for Nu 11.48 million.
