Dasho Chhewang Rinzin
Managing Director, Druk Green Power Corporation Limited

Dasho Chhewang Rinzin is currently the Managing Director, Druk Green Power Corporation Limited, the public sector generation utility of Bhutan, since the incorporation of the Company in 2008. Before that, he headed Bhutan Power Corporation Limited, the public sector transmission and distribution utility of Bhutan as its Managing Director.

For exemplary services to the country, His Majesty The King of Bhutan awarded Chhewang Rinzin the Red Scarf with the title of Dasho in 2009 and also the Order of Druk Khorlo medal in 2014. Amongst many portfolios held, he was the Chairperson of Bhutan’s Second Pay Commission (November 2013 – March 2014). He also served as an advisor of the First Interim Government (April – July 2013), Second Interim Government (August – October 2018) and Third Interim Government (November 2023 – January 2024).

He has a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering and a Master in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, USA.

Dechen Wangmo
Director, Corporate Affairs Department

Dechen Wangmo is currently working as the Director, Corporate Affairs Department of Druk Green Power Corporation since 2018. She is responsible mainly for strategy, business development and power trading. She has served in DGPC since 2008 in various capacities. Prior to that she has worked in the Bhutan Power Corporation and the Department of Power in Bhutan. She has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of Wollongong, Australia and a Master of Business Administration from the Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne, Australia.

Ugyen Namgyal
Director, Corporate Services Department

Ugyen Namgyal heads the Corporate Services Department of DGPC. Before that, he served as the CEO of Druk Hydro Energy Limited, a company formed to develop all small hydropower projects in Bhutan, and Tangsibji Hydro Energy Limited, a special-purpose vehicle to construct and commission the 118 MW Nikachhu hydropower projects.

He is a Certified Practicing Accountant from CPA Australia. He has a Bachelor of Commerce (honours) from Sherubtse College, Bhutan, and a Bachelor of Business from the University of South Australia, Adelaide, South Australia.

Yeshi Tenzin
Director, Operation and Maintenance Department

Yeshi Tenzin is currently the Director, Operations and Maintenance Department, Druk Green Power Corporation Limited since 2020. Between April 2018 to June 2020, he was deputed to Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project Authority as the Chief Engineer from DGPC to assist the project authority in the erection, testing and commissioning of the project, and setting up the project’s operations and maintenance team. He has served in DGPC since 2008 in various capacities as Heads of Plants of the Tala, Chhukha and Kurichhu Hydropower Plants. He has a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi University, New Delhi, India and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso, USA.

Sonam Wangdi
Director, Projects and Contract Department

Sonam Wangdi currently heads the Projects and Contract Department of DGPC. Before that, he served as the Chief Engineer for Kholongchhu Hydro Energy Limited, a company set up to execute the 600 MW Kholongchhu hydropower project.

He has a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur, India, and a Master’s in Hydropower Development from the Norwegian Institute of Science and Technology, Norway.
