DGPC Welcomes 221 New Recruits Through Orientation Programme
Thimphu, July 6: Druk Green Power Corporation Limited conducted an orientation programme today at its Corporate Office to welcome 221 new recruits from various academic institutions, including Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law, Jigme Namgyel Engineering College, College of Natural Resources, Royal University of Bhutan, and the College of Science and Technology. The recruits comprise engineers, diploma graduates, lawyers and professionals from diverse disciplines.
The newly recruited employees will be deployed across departments at the Corporate Office, DGPC power plants, subsidiaries and project sites across the country, where they will support the corporation’s operations and future development initiatives.
During the programme, the recruits were briefed on the significance of joining DGPC at an important phase of Bhutan’s renewable energy development journey. They were informed that working at DGPC represents not only a career opportunity but also an opportunity to contribute towards nation-building through sustainable energy development. The session also highlighted DGPC’s contribution to Bhutan’s socio-economic growth and energy security, as well as the corporation’s Vision 2040 of achieving 20 GW of renewable energy capacity through expanded hydropower and other renewable energy development initiatives.
The orientation programme provided participants with insights into DGPC’s operations, organizational structure, culture and future strategic direction. Sessions delivered by various teams covered DGPC’s renewable energy roadmap, onboarding framework, employee welfare mechanisms, workplace policies and career development opportunities.
The Information Technology Section also introduced recruits to essential digital systems and workplace tools while emphasizing cybersecurity awareness, professional work practices and responsible use of digital platforms.
The programme concluded with a message encouraging the recruits to embrace learning, uphold professionalism and contribute towards building a sustainable and resilient energy future for Bhutan.
