Operation & Maintenance Services Centre

Considering DGPC’s capabilities in operation and maintenance (O&M), there are possibilities of providing O&M and other services within and beyond Bhutan in neighbouring countries. DGPC established an O&M Services Centre as a separate business unit that is mandated to operate and manage other hydropower plants under a management contract agreement.

In 2022, the management contract of Dagachhu Hydropower Corporation Limited was implemented as an outsourced service to DGPC. Similarly, the centre took over the O&M of the embedded generation assets comprising mini and micro hydropower plants, wind and solar plants. O&M Services Centre will be taking over the O&M of upcoming Nikachhu and Kholongchhu projects as well. The centre will also provide erection, testing and commissioning services for hydropower projects.

In 2018, DGPC deputed 16 employees to Andritz O&M contract for O&M of 110 MW Pare Hydroelectric Project in Arunachal Pradesh, India, and 1,200 MW Teesta -III Hydroelectric Project in Sikkim, India. DGPC is planning to depute engineers to Nepal for O&M services for Andritz O&M Private Limited. DGPC will continue to explore such opportunities through the creation of SPVs or JVs to venture into international markets.

Through this business unit, DGPC can leverage existing skilled resources and adopt a shared service model for providing expert services to its subsidiaries and other organisations as well.
